Your Wedding Reception Food

Something that people often remember when they go to a
wedding reception is the food, whether it’s good or
bad. Something to consider when you are choosing your
wedding menu is your guests.

Yes, it’s your wedding but you are spending a lot of
money so you want people to like what is being served.
Here are some tips so that people enjoy your reception
food.

Give them a choice -

It’s always a good idea to offer your guests a choice
on what they would like to eat for your wedding
reception People may have food allergies, so this way
they can choose what they would like to eat. Two
choices is enough.

Keep it simple -

Just because it’s not something fancy, it doesn’t
meant hat it won’t be good. If they are faced with
something that they aren’t sure what it is, they may
be reluctant to eat it so don’t go for things that
people can’t identify.

Keep it clean -

Everyone at your wedding reception is going to be
wearing their best clothes. You want to stay away from
food that is very messy or could cause stains that
will be hard to remove.

Remember, you are going to be wearing a white dress.
The last thing you will want is to have something
spill on it that may ruin it, or will be very
noticeable.

Think about what you have had in the past at wedding
receptions, and what you liked or didn’t like about
them. That will help you plan your own wedding
reception menu.

Selecting Flowers for a Wedding

Selecting Flowers for a Wedding

One of the biggest parts of a wedding is the flowers
that are included. There are flowers for the bouquets,
flowers for the church, and flowers for the mothers,
grandmothers, groom, and ushers, as well as
centerpieces for the reception.

Something that should be taken into consideration when
selecting the flowers to use in a wedding is that
sometimes there are people who have allergies and may
be affected by the scent of the flowers.

When you are choosing the type of flowers for your
wedding, think about yourself and your attendants
especially. Are there any sensitive noses? The last
thing that you will need on your wedding day Is to
have yourself or one of your attendants having a
sneezing fit in the middle of the ceremony.

Once you have chosen what type of flower you want to
have for your wedding, the next thing is to decide on
the colors. Usually the colors for bridesmaids and
groomsmen will correspond to the colors of the
bridesmaids’ dresses for the bouquets. But when it
comes to the grandmothers and mothers flowers it may
be a good idea to find out what color their dresses
will be so their flowers will match.

So that there aren’t a lot of flowers left over from
the reception, it’s not a bad idea to mark a chair and
whoever sits in that chair gets to take home the
centerpiece. This way the flowers can be enjoyed for
longer than a day and you don’t have to worry about
what to do with them.

Saving Money on a Wedding Cake

One of the biggest focal points of a wedding reception
is the beautiful wedding cake. That towering,
flowering, blinding beautiful wedding cake with the
two people standing on top, that the bride and groom
cut and then feed to one another.

Although a lot of brides and grooms go with the
traditional pound cake taste, it doesn’t have to be
that way.

Flavor -

If you don’t go with the traditional pound cake taste
for all of your layers, keep in mind that not everyone
is going to like lemon or raspberry, or any other
exotic flavors.

One popular alternative is chocolate chip cake.
Another idea is to go with alternating chocolate and
vanilla.

The top of your cake is traditionally saved and eaten
on your first wedding anniversary. So choose the
flavor that both of you will enjoy and make that your
wedding topper.

Although a lot of cakes are purchased in a traditional
bakery, there are a lot of supermarkets that make
delicious cakes that aren’t as expensive.

If you are working on a budget, shop around for prices
on wedding cakes and be sure to sample them. You may
be surprised at what supermarkets can do.

If you have someone that has taken a cake decorating
class and makes great cakes, you may find that they
will do it as a wedding present and it will save you
some money.

A wedding cake doesn’t have to be expensive to be
delicious, and you can find plenty of money saving
ideas when looking for your wedding cake.

Other Wedding Jobs for Friends

When most people think of a wedding, the things that
they think about are the bride and groom, of course,
the wedding party, the flowers and the wedding
reception.

But there is a lot more to a wedding than that, and
this is how others can be involved if the wedding
party has been filled.

Guest Book Attendant

- This is one of the jobs that can be offered to a
friend who wasn’t included in the wedding party but
still wants to help. This person will encourage the
guests to sign the book and leave a message for the
couple if they wish. It may seem like a small job, but
it’s important.

Bird Seed Bag Attendants

- Another job that is available to friends of the
bride and groom is to give everyone bags of bird seed
after the ceremony. This can be done by one or two
people, depending on how many people are attending the
wedding.

Scripture readings

- If the bride and groom are having a ceremony that
includes a lot of scripture readings, this is another
nice touch to the ceremony, and can make your friends
feel like a special part of your day.

Car decorating

- This can be a perfect job for a couple of guys who
aren’t ushers. They can go out to the bridal car and
decorate it for the drive to where the reception is
being held.

This is also a job that can be done by some of the
ushers, who don’t want to stand around for the
receiving line.

Ideas for Wedding Party Gifts

A day or two before your wedding, there is usually a
wedding rehearsal and then a wedding rehearsal dinner.
This is paid for traditionally by the groom’s family,
and it’s when you will give your wedding attendants
their gifts as a thank you for being in your wedding.

Bridesmaids

- As a rule, jewelry is a good idea for the ladies. If
they have pierced ears, you can give them earrings. If
their ears aren’t pierced, you can give them
necklaces.

It’s always a good idea to give them something that
they can wear on the day of the wedding to go with
their dresses.

Groomsmen/ushers

- For the men, it’s a little more difficult to choose
an appropriate gift. If you can’t find something that
will be appropriate for all of them, you can choose
comparable but different gifts.

Beer steins, shot glasses, and other similar items can
be used, or something else that will reflect their
individuality.

Remember, when you are choosing your gifts that these
are your friends and family, and that you want them to
know that you have appreciated everything that they
have done.

The wedding rehearsal dinner is a time for the wedding
party to come together and have a good time before the
wedding.

Enjoy yourself and have a good time with your wedding
party. You are celebrating the fact that you are going
to be getting married soon, and that you will be
starting a new life together with you spouse.

Choosing wedding attendants

When you are planning a wedding, one of the things
that you want to figure out is who you will want for
your attendants. If you have a lot of friends, it can
be difficult to figure out who you want to choose to
be in your wedding party. Here are some suggestions
for when you are selecting groomsmen or bridesmaids.

Bridesmaids -

One of the first things that should be taken into
consideration when you are choosing bridesmaids is
whether you or your fiance’ have a sister. If your
husband to be has a sister, it’s always a nice gesture
to ask her to be in the wedding party. Once you have
included your sister or your husband’s sister, then go
to your friends.

Groomsmen -

Just with bridesmaids, it’s a good idea to include
brothers of your bride to be when selecting your
ushers or groomsmen. Then you can choose which of your
friends to be in your bridal party.

Best man/Maid of Honor -

This honor is usually saved for a sister or brother,
or a best friend if those getting married are only
children.

It can be difficult to try and figure out who it is
that you want to be in your wedding, especially if you
have a large group of friends.

If you don’t want to have a large wedding party, there
are other things that you an include your friends in
so that they are a part of your special day. So don’t
be concerned if you want to have a small wedding party
- there are always ways to help in a wedding.

Choosing a Wedding Photographer

You have gotten engaged, set a wedding date, and now
you need to find a photographer. After all, you want
to have a wedding album to look at years from now and
remember your special day. So how can you find the
photographer that will be right for you and do a good
job? Well, here are some tips on how to find the right
wedding photographer.

Talk to friends and relatives -

The best way to find someone is to talk to people who
have recently gotten married and have had pictures
done. Find out who they used and whether they were
satisfied.

Talk to the photographer -

Once you have found a few photographers, go and talk
to them to find out what their rates are. Find out
what kinds of things that they offer and, of course,
if they are available on your wedding date. If you
haven’t been referred to them by someone, you might
want to ask to see samples of their work and
references.

Wedding pictures are a big part of your day, and
there’s no second chance to get them done if they
don’t turn out right the first time so it’s important
to know that you are choosing the right person for the
job.

If you don’t have a lot of money but you would like a
video of your wedding, you can always ask a friend to
do one for you as a wedding gift. After all, you won’t
be able to be everywhere at once and you want to be
sure that you can see your guests having fun.

Choosing a Wedding Gown

One of the first things that comes to mind when a
wedding is being planned is the bride’s wedding gown.
But there are so many wedding gowns available. How do
you choose the one that is right for you?

Well, there are a few things to think about when you
are looking at wedding gowns. These will help you to
pick out the wedding gown that is right for you.

Time of year -

The fist thing to take into consideration is what time
of year you will be getting married. This will help
you to decide on what type of cloth, the length of
your sleeves, and the length of your gown.

Your body type -

There are a couple of types of gowns that will work
for all body types but you want to be sure that your
gown makes you look the best that you can. A person at
the bridal shop can help you select the dress that is
right for you.

Your own style -

Think about what kinds of dresses you like, and that
will also help you to find a good wedding dress. No
matter if they are plain or fancy, every gown is
beautiful.

It’s always a great idea to take your mother or
another female relative or friend to help you choose
your gown. It’s a great bonding experience and it’s
always a good idea to have a second set of eyes.

Choosing a DJ for your Wedding Reception

Depending on what type of wedding reception you will
be having, you may be in need of a disc jockey so that
your guests can dance. As with a wedding photographer,
you are going to want to do some research and find the
disc jockey that will make your reception fun.

Ask friends and family – Friends and family who have
had a wedding will give you an honest opinion of the
disc jockey that they have used, so talking to them is
the first step that you should take.

If you have been to their weddings personally, you
will have had first hand experience. But there may
have been things that you weren’t aware of that
happened, so it’s always a good idea to ask them even
if you were there.

Do interviews – Talk to a few disc jockeys and tell
them when your wedding is. Let them know what kind of
music you want, and what your special dance songs are.
This will ensure that they have time to get it before
the big day if they don’t already have it.

You want to be sure that the person you choose as your
disc jockey is personable and will ensure that
everyone has a good time. They should have a lot of
personality and be able to get people dancing. Be sure
that you let them know exactly what kind of music you
want, so that they are prepared.

Bridesmaid Dress Conflicts and Resolving them

One of the biggest conflicts that happen when it comes
to a wedding is the one between brides and their
bridesmaids over the bridesmaids dresses. To help with
this problem, here are some tips on selecting
bridesmaids’ dresses>

Color – This is one thing that the bride should be
able to choose. But when you are choosing your color,
take into consideration your bridesmaids’ coloring.
Have a base color, but be willing to compromise on the
shade. The other thing that some brides do is to have
a rainbow wedding.

Style – This is something that your bridesmaids should
be able to help in choosing. Try not to choose a style
that is to garish or frilly. The best type of dress is
one that they can wear again to another formal dinner.

Remember, these dresses are dresses that your
bridesmaids will be paying for, and they should be
able to enjoy wearing them. So take that into
consideration and choose a style and color that will
make everyone happy.

You want to choose a style that will look good on all
of your bridesmaids and that enhance their best
features. When your bridesmaids are wearing dresses
that they like and they know that they look good in,
things will be a lot less stressful for everyone.

If you aren’t sure what type of dress will work for
everyone, talk to people at the bridal shops and they
will help you.
